Change begins from within. Not from without. Change that begins from within includes change from without. The opposite is not true.
There is not one without the other. Both are necessary. It isn’t such a complex argument but there are a couple of steps to it. What I am trying to say is at least a bit new and is anatomical.
Unlike animals we are at the very heart of both the environment and culture. Evolutionary mismatch is a key concept for outer change. Myofascial synergies is a key anatomical concept for inner change because it affords awareness of our animal intelligence and is the structural link between mind and body.
We still have to do it and it is up to each of us but it is no longer impossible. It is intuitive and natural because it comes from within. We all possess the requisite anatomy, which by necessity is always already functioning within us. Conscious awareness is the only difference we need
This means that it must be anatomical. It is not abstract but is deeply personal, palpable and factual. The answer must be anatomical and it lies in the myofascial synergy of the deep core of our body.
This is what I teach but the answer and the meaning is solidly inside of you and me and each one of us. A change in perceptual mode and a gentle, sensitive shift in self awareness is really all it takes. Revolution is about healing. Our bodies are self healing, self balancing, self directed, and even self reproducing, but not without self awareness. That is our simple and inborn duty. It is all we need to begin a catalytic, synergistic, collective and global process of cultural and environmental change
I would like to invite you into deep inner somatic self-awareness. Not because I am a master of it but because each one of us possesses it always and already in the sensitive, sentient, axial core of our own bodies.
This revolution is not about mastery. That is what we are leaving behind. It is about a little bit of humble surrender to the wisdom we all possess within. This is the truth and it is inside of you and me and each one of us equally.
I call this biomechanical enlightenment and describe it in the form of what I call “three bones theory and the sensory stations on the deep core.”
Anyone can understand this simple anatomy and anyone can activate this simple somatic truth inside of themselves. Animals and children do it without education or even language. I teach it freely and joyfully. I learn it freely and joyfully. I am not its master or even anything close to perfect. This form of enlightenment is about healing, not perfection.
This is what makes me Musclemonk.
