Neurodivergent from what?
There was always a somatic tradition of science.
The modern enlightenment project was the establishment of the cognitive faculty of objective, analytical reason. The Age of Reason. It is extremely important especially today to remember that this is not the only or the most important cognitive faculty that we need to develop.
Our current cultural norm is heavily biased in favor of the dominance of the control system and the intellect. This creates a very specific perspective, one that is not well suited to understanding the condition of larger synergies. Complexity theory is an example of an exciting current innovation in a long tradition of somatic natural philosophy or somatic science broadly defined. We are truly making rapid progress in the somatic tradition. We see revolutions occurring in many fields, including anatomy, where synergistic anatomy is providing us with tremendous insight.
I am a body worker and am heavily biased in favor of muscle and the skeleton.
The sensory motor system has long been the focus of the most serious efforts to understand mind, brain, and body. We are on the most solid footing possible when we focus on our muscles and bones. What is new is the connective tissue and this is what makes everything so much more exciting. We can see the connections and they are in us.
There is a new kind of meaning that is arising as we get to know our own bodies better. The centration, grounding, and presence that is possible by actively understanding the myofascial synergy of the deep core is the key to more balanced hemispheric activity. Activation of the deep core, a self aware system of animal intelligence, is a fundamental adaptation we are easily capable of. It is extremely profound and also is extremely simple.
This is the somatic tradition, the somatic approach, our animal intelligence. There was always a somatic tradition.
