Being a monk us something special. It is not necessarily defined by affiliation with traditional religious institutions. I am completely independent and original. There have been many kinds of monks throughout history and it is possible as a monk to be quite independent in one’s path. Monasticism has always been a practice of separating oneself from conventional institutions in order to focus on a deeper truth.
A monk does not pretend to be a worldly success. Monks are very humble and depend upon the support of others for their practice. A monk must do this in so far as they wish to pursue the sacred in a confused and suffering world.
Bodhidharma is a legendary third or fourth century monk credited with bringing zen and martial arts to China. He is credited with founding the Shaolin temple. His travel to China was a part of his own path of self discovery and his teaching was the expression of his own truth from among the wisdom traditions available to him. A monk, or perhaps an interesting monk, does not represent an institution but actively follows a sacred inner path. We help to pave the path for others as we create it for ourselves within.
I am Muscle Monk and my mission is to save the world with muscle. To do this I teach about a profound new body part, the deep core myofascial synergy. It is our deepest system of postural muscles and contains our animal intelligence. This is the key to the current civilization level paradigm shift occurring in our world today.
