Biomechanical Enlightenment

I teach and practice a theory of biomechanical enlightenment. My explorations of clinical cases, scholarship, society, history and my own body take me to astounding places of revelation and synergy. I experience growth and healing and self discovery. It is intensely erotic as well as intensely spiritual. It is fundamental and meaningful and so of course has to do with the structure of my body and its structural integrity, things like coordination and balance and grounding. That is why I am a muscle monk, and I love it.
Recovering our physical presence today requires confronting high levels of maladaptation and denial or dissociation. This is unavoidable but it is also the fulfillment of the will of our self healing and self balancing animal self. We are unconsciously and automatically self healing creatures. However we need to remember that at this level of maladaptation it will not happen by itself. It requires greater participation from the conscious self. This is the purpose of biomechanical enlightenment.

Understanding a simple body map is all that is required intellectually. It is easy and natural and its full expression as our coordination dynamics is something animals and children do joyfully without education or language. The deep core body map very simply tells us where to focus our attention and if we do, the deep core itself will tell us what to do. This is called animal intelligence…
The only important secrets are the ones that we keep from ourselves. We do not do this in a gelatinous blob in our skulls. Maladaptation is somatically encoded throughout the central nervous system and in its myofascial structural complement, the bodywide postural system of the deep core. This is what it takes to get at the core of things. This new body part is where we can get to know ourselves and recover our animal intelligence.

The deep core is a new body part of a type that was not possible until recently: a myofascial synergy. The deep core defines our axial line from head to toe. It is a system of systems with a powerful sense of identity. Its instinctual activity forms the basis for our animal intelligence.

Its presence in the brain should far exceed in interest and complexity the cerebellar somatotopes we are currently familiar with is likely are not arranged similarly superficially. There is current research into this topic in terms of the localization of the faculty of interoception but it is still formative. This kind of visceral structure has much greater dimensionality than the exteroceptive representations that occur on the surface of the motor content and cerebellum.

Get to know yourself in your own deep core. it is the path of the biomechanical bodhisattva.
